Assignment Six – Pre-Assessment review

This Pre-assessment review took place in the format of a telephone conversation.

I had a very brief conversation with Russell with regards to which assignments to revise although I had in mind the alterations I was going to make based on each assignment feedback. I asked if I should send more prints in order for him to judge the quality etc of my printed work but he felt he had seen my standard of printing with A1 and it was fine. Revisions as suggested as below:

Assignment One – Rework

This is the reworked version of this assignment for assessment, following feedback and reflection. The revisions are a more in-depth introduction to SEND and my role within the remit of the Special Educational Needs Code of Practice.

Some images have been removed and replaced with others, and the images are now uniformly presented, as single images, and in a slightly different order to assist with the visual narrative.

Assignment Two – Rework

This is the reworked version of this assignment for assessment, following feedback and reflection. The revisions were minimal, I decided to swap the cutaway edit of Headache 2 for an unedited version and rework a simpler version of Resolution 2.

The introduction to the final assignment has also been slightly altered.

Assignment Three – Rework

This is the reworked version of this assignment for assessment, following feedback and reflection. The revisions were minimal, I decided to remove the text from the final back cover image, replace/re-shoot the image for Jamie, also replace the shot for Jean and Semicolon Project for slightly stronger imagery.

Assignment 4 – Rework

Once more I received very positive feedback for my essay with one point:

One general point I would make is for you to provide more evidence of the way social media, in particular, has altered perception of the female image – is there any evidence to show that contemporary female photographers have found a wider audience though say, Instagram and influenced informal or commercial photography (for example in fashion)?

With initial feedback and after a telephone discussion, Russell felt that I did not have to alter my essay, but on reflection I wanted to change it slightly and included some reference to the materials he mentioned.

Assignment 5 – Rework

This is the reworked version of this assignment for assessment, following feedback and reflection. The initial revisions were vast given the very rushed initial submission. Initial feedback was that the idea had merit but needed more in-depth research and development before formal feedback. A direct comparison of Welling in 2009 to 2017 was changed to reflect Welling 2017 and reflect on the effects of Brexit. Working on a video was a new challenge with constant revisions as I went along, not all submitted to Russell. After formal feedback the revisions seemed fairly minimal but took a long tome to do, with several more photo-shoots completed and more learning about sound and adding captions.

Assignment 6 –  Preparing for assessment

Digital and Physical Submission for Assessment

Ideas for presentation and final submission were:

  • Assignments 1-3 to send good quality A3 prints in a clam shell portfolio box for all assignments – only send some samples of A1-3
  • Assignment 4 – send hard copy of essay printed at A4
  • Assignment 5 – include link for the video – or maybe also on a memory stick – I need to check submission criteria – send printed images size A3
  • send link for blog ensuring link works
  • include all tutor reports
  • that my blog is up-to-date and was easy to navigate, but to make sure all links were working and that any research which added directly to my assignments were highlighted or dated to show how they impacted and enhanced my learning.

Since writing this, I have been reading the submission rules and comments on an OCA forum which makes things very unclear as to whether ALL final assignment images should be sent of if a sample is sufficient. I know that for November assessment other students have only sent samples…but I don’t like the comment that if you do not submit what is requested you can end up with 0 marks…
